“For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”
Here we must be careful to rightly divide the word of truth and not mix in untruth with what Paul is teaching. Paul continues to teach on giving and supporting the church. This is a temporal thing and thus does not pertain to our eternal salvation. No one loses or gains their salvation by giving to the church and the ministry. So what does Paul mean here? Simply this, when we dedicate all our days to meeting the lusts and desires of the flesh we will continue to find more corruptible things such as silver and gold to chase after. However, when we dedicate ourselves to the church and God’s service we find our hope in Christ is what we are chasing and looking forward to. What should be our goal in life — to pile up riches or to see Christ and his glory more plainly? The answer to that question is what this verse is all about.
